Setting up is never easy.

Especially when it comes the Saturday night before the holiday season officially comes to a close. A few church members mustered up enough energy to brave through the ice and snow in order to set up for service the following day. It was the “big” service after all. “Big” in every sense of the word: from the new worship venue, to the three services joining as one to worship, to the introduction of the new website, new initiatives and church structure, and to this being a significant service to set precedence for this upcoming year—New Mercy’s fifth year as a church.

From the powerful worship, to the special announcements and musical pieces by our members Ilmar and Seojin Gavilan, and beyond, we were truly reminded what it meant to be one church that strives to be a “Church for the Broken.”

Greater things

During this time, Pastor Hudson blessed us with the Word as he preached about the second touch of God.

He preached:

“We are like this blind man who Jesus touched twice to be healed: Perhaps we see, but we don’t see things clearly yet. We know God is there and this is real, but something is still lacking, something is missing. This year however, we believe that there are greater things that God has promised us. It is nothing shiny or of great quantity, but deeper things. This promise and call is one that reminds us of our purpose in life; we are reminded of taking that promise and have God work deeper in our lives.”
